About Tim
Tim Larson is the youngest of eight children raised by Ray and Pauline Larson in East Hartford's Mayberry Village neighborhood. The Larsons were not a wealthy family but they had each other, and the children shared the values bestowed on them by their parents: the importance of family, friends, hard work, a strong education, and giving back to the community.
Tim built upon those lessons as a young man. Working to pay his way through college, he graduated with a degree in sociology from Eastern Connecticut State College.
While at Eastern, Tim met his wife Nancy. Tim and Nancy are a team, raising their children, Matt and Arianna, and passing down those same valuable lessons of family, hard work, and community service.
Nancy has worked as an educator in the Town of South Windsor for over 20 years. Matt is entering his second year at the College of the Holy Cross and Arianna is a senior at East Hartford High School.
Tim's background has brought him success through the years in numerous arenas. He is a successful businessman, having served as President of the Larson and Lysik Insurance Agency and he is currently the Executive Director of Tweed New Haven Airport Authority.
Tim has focused his charitable work on children, families and the community, having served as President of the East Hartford Interfaith Ministries, a Director of Rebuilding East Hartford Together, and a member of the Rotary Club, Riverfront Recapture, and the Hartford Marathon Foundation.
More recently, Tim served four terms, eight years, as Mayor of the Town of East Hartford. As Mayor, Tim took steps to rebuild the Town's infrastructure, saw the development of Rentschler Field Stadium, and Coca-Cola Bottling Co., signed the tax agreement bringing Cabela's to Rentschler Field, supported Redevelopment projects on Main Steet and Burnside Avenue, and strengthened the Town through tight fiscal policy which helped keep necessary services for town residents while building up the town's rainy day fund.
Tim's experience and background provides the necessary qualifications to be an effective representative for the residents of the 11th Assembly District.
